Be a tourist in your own city…
Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live in Cape Town – and also, how much I still don’t know about the place. So the boyf and I went on an adventure-ish date to Simonstown this weekend, where we unashamedly posed for silly photos and got trigger happy so we ended up with 400 pictures of our 3 hours excursion.
We looked like tourists with Stu’s big camera, my barefeet and both our silly eager grins. It was fun… I’m going to pretend to be a tourist in Cape Town more often. When I think of a romantic date, I always skip to images of a candlelit (and fancy) dinner…but this adventure with a quick stop at the KFC Drive Through turned out to be one of my favourite dates. I also was reminded about Just Nuisance. I couldn’t believe Stu had never heard of the famous Great Dane appointed into the Navy. My mom used to read the story to me when I was younger, I remember how the Great Dane used to illegally board the train on solo missions through the town – much to the anger of the conductor. Although how much anger can you really show to a gigantic dog, like Just Nuisance, who used to place his paws on the conductors shoulders and come up to his height.
So I have decided that museum visits, random drives and afternoon beach strolls can totally kick dinner-date butt! They also, as a bonus, are cheaper and more student friendly.
