Sense and Sensibility
Just a quick post! I’m being so sensible about prioritizing my life lately, nothing short of ruthless! However it’s Sunday and I thought I could indulge in a quick post – then it’s back to typing up my Gynae case reports!
This weekend I had a splendid time with my two friends, Tam and Gayle. I thought I would share it! In our joint frustration in rationalizing the male species – we are all med students you see, so we like rationalizing – we had a girly movie night followed by a discussion that could ONLY follow watching the movie Sense and Sensibility. If you are anything like me, and you’ve seen everything from Becoming Jane to the Jane Austen Bookclub and just generally are a sucker for classic romance. Then yes, you’ll love it. I was also chatting to Tam and we were saying how spot on Katie Melua’s song ‘Closest Thing to Crazy’ is in capturing our ability to transform from rational female beings into – well, not that and into something rather frighteningly emotional/needy/daft. Have a read through it girls, see if you can relate – I certainly can! My favourite line in the song…’now I know that there’s a link between the two, being close to crazinss and being close to you’.
Katie Melua “The Closest Thing To Crazy”
Yet feel the air beneath my feet?
How can happiness feel so wrong?
How can misery feel so sweet?
How can you let me watch you sleep,
Then break my dreams the way you do?
How can I have got in so deep?
Why did I fall in love with you?
This is the closest thing to crazy I have ever been
Feeling twenty-two, acting seventeen,
This is the nearest thing to crazy I have ever known,
I was never crazy on my own…
And now I know that there’s a link between the two,
Being close to craziness and being close to you.
How can you make me fall apart
Then break my fall with loving lies?
It’s so easy to break a heart;
It’s so easy to close your eyes.
How can you treat me like a child
Yet like a child I yearn for you?
How can anyone feel so wild?
How can anyone feel so blue?
